Today Deepika Padukone is one such woman who inspires millions of women in India and worldwide. She is an elegant and impassive superstar of the Indian Box office in the present day, and today she is the highest-paid actress in Bollywood. According to Times magazine, Deepika was one of the 100 most influential people in the world in 2018.
Deepika Padukone was born on 5th January 1986 in Copenhagen, Denmark, and raised in Bangalore. Her father, Prakash Padukone, was an international level badminton player, and as a teenager, she took badminton as her career, maintaining the hereditary of her family.
Deepika concentrated on her education and badminton career throughout her school years, but sometimes she worked as a child model. In tenth class, she completely shifts her focus from sports to modeling. She conveyed her wish of becoming a fashion model to her father, and her father agreed with her decision and supported her.
Early in her career, Deepika Padukone gained recognition with a tv commercial for the Liril soap and modeled for various other products and brands. Deepika’s fame increased when she won the “Model of the Year” award at the Kingfisher Fashion Awards in 2005. Soon she began to receive film offered when she featured in the music video for Himesh Reshammiya’s song.
In 2006 Deepika Padukone made her film debut in romantic comedy Kannada film opposite Upendra. The movie became a commercially hit, and after that, Farah Khan cast her in her movie Om Shanti Om opposite Shahrukh Khan. Om Shanti Om was a big commercial hit and became the highest-grossing film of 2007.
Many film critics predict that Deepika is highly talented and she has all the integrant to be a top star. After the big success, many film offers came rolling in for Deepika. She was cast in Bachna Ae Haseeno opposite Ranbir Kapoor, Chandni Chowk to China opposite Akshay Kumar and Love Aaj Kal opposite Saif Ali Khan. Career Saving Romantic Comedy
In 2012 Deepika pulled up a stunning performance in Homi Adajania’s rom-com movie Cocktail. This film did exceptionally well and proved to be a turning point in her acting career. Playing the role of impulsive party girl Veronica, Deepika was credited as the movie’s soul.
2013 established Deepika Padukone as the leading lady of Indian cinema with four big hits in that year with Race 2, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, Chennai Express, and Goliyon Ki Rasleela RamLeela.These films earned her immense commercial and critical adulation as she became one of the top-rated stars of the industry.
In 2013 in Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela, Deepika Padukone acted opposite Ranveer Singh. It was an adoption of the Shakespearean tragedy of Romeo and Juliet in the direction of Sanjay Leela Bhansali. The role played by her was Leela.
Initially, it was titled Ram-Leela, but there was a court case against them for offending the religious sentiments of people by manifesting sex and violence about the life of Rama. So the movie name was changed to Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela. She was mentioned as a breathtaking and prime asset of this film and earned several awards and admiration for her performance.
In Piku, released in 2015, Deepika played the hard-core Bengali architect living with her hypochondriac father (role played by Amitabh Bachchan). The bond between the father and daughter is uncommon in the film industry. She got several awards and the best actress award in Filmfare and Screen for this film.
Success (2015 – Present)
Later in 2015, Padukone reunited with Ranveer Singh and Sanjay Leela Bhansali in a historical drama, Bajirao Mastani, which was a big hit. Deepika plays the role of the warrior princess Mastani in the movie. She learned horse riding, sword-fighting, and the martial art form of kalarippayattu for the movie.
With the action film XXX: Return of Xander Cage in 2017, Deepika debuted in Hollywood. She plays the lead role of Serena Unger, opposite Vin Diesel in the movie. The film got mixed reviews, and some critics think that her talent was wasted in the film.
In 2018, in her third collaboration with Ranveer Singh and Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Deepika Padukone played the role of Rajput queen Rani Padmavati. She commits Jauhar to protect herself from Alauddin Khilji, a Muslim invader in the period drama movie Padmavat. With an estimated budget of 2 billion, Padmaavat is one of the most expensive Hindi films, and it is Deepika Padukone’s highest-grossing release to date.
Battle with Depression
She talked about her mental feelings and her battle with depression many times in public which surprisingly happened during her appreciation time. The mental sickness is like that, and it can outburst at any time. She felt exhausted and felt descending all the time. At first, she avoided the negative feelings by connecting with close people and zooming in on the works. But later, she found that it was not easy and became worse. She had to take it wisely and began her medical treatment by taking a break from work.
She could get out of this situation and work with a sound mind. Having experience from her own life, Deepika has known that there is a stigma in sharing the mental depression in our society. So she launched an NGO named Live Love Laugh Foundation to build awareness about mental health.
Deepika is a homesick person, and she feels a strong bond with her family. She feels a strong connection with her family and regularly visits Bangalore. She is religious and visits temples regularly. The most crucial event was her marriage to Ranveer Singh in November 2018. The marriage happened in Lake Como, Italy.
