Simple Home Remedies for Swollen Feet

Experiencing swollen feet during pregnancy is a regular phenomenon and can occur in any trimester of pregnancy as every pregnancy is different. The inflammation happens for excess fluid in the blood and body. Generally, it happens at a certain level to them, who stand and walk on the paddle for a long time and stay in a warm season.

Some of these remedies can be used during swollen feet period.

Avoid Sitting or Standing For an Extended Period

Your blood circulation can’t flow smoothly when you sit or stand for long periods. Just change the position every 20 minutes to let the blood flow properly.

Drinking More Water

Hard to believe, like feeling counteractive? But no, this is one of the ways to get rid of excess water. The matter is like that, and if there is a lack of water, then there is no way of expelling extra water. Your kidney should be reminded that it has to dispose of the excess amount of moisture; otherwise, it doesn’t feel necessary to remove water for the lack of water. During pregnancy, the inadequacy of water is not reasonable, and dehydration can happen.

Take Plenty of Foods Filled with Salt Nutrients Full of Electrolytes

It’s very typical to increase the water level by 20 lbs, and the swelling is the natural phenomenon of this. Unprocessed sea salt is perfect for a pregnant lady. They should avoid table salt and processed & packaged food to have a healthy diet. Daily food should contain the electrolytes like sodium, potassium, magnesium, calcium, etc., to balance the electrolyte balance. Excessive salt is harmful to anybody, so balance is necessary.

Eat Potassium-Rich Food

During pregnancy, take potassium-rich food exclusively as it must help balance the salt in your body to relieve excess fluids and reduce the tendency of swollen feet. Eat plenty of cabbage, arugula, bananas, avocado, kiwi, prune juice, watercress, spinach, sun-dried tomatoes, etc.

Decrease or Avoid Caffeine Intake

Caffeine increases the tendency of urination, and it causes dehydration. Thus, swollen feet would be more severe as it causes fluid retention. You can replace the coffee with peppermint tea that is full of potassium.

Uplift the Feet

Lift the feet for 10 to 20 minutes 3 to 4 times a day. The method is to elevate the feet slightly above the level of your heart so that the blood and fluids get back to the heart and relieve you from swollen feet.


Exercise or Yoga

Do very light exercise or pregnant yoga to keep your body feet. Some may think that exercise is insufficient for pregnant women, but it is just a myth. Just apply the steps that are useful and comfortable for pregnancy. It helps to circulate the blood adequately whole over the body. It can help in many discomforts during pregnancy.

Salt Bath

Fill the bucket or bathtub with warm salt water with Epsom salt or magnesium salt of a half cup and take a bath on it. This mixture would make you relax during and after a bath. You can mix some essential oils too with the water to get more benefit.

Oil Massage to Feet

A gentle foot massage can help you relieve the swollen symptoms. You can add the arnica oil that helps get rid of the sore and achy muscle. But always try to maintain the level of massaging while you are pregnant.

Lying on the Left Side in Bed

When sleeping and relaxing, try to lie on the left side. It’s said to be increased blood circulation on lying on the left side of you.

Apple Cider Vinegar

The elements of apple-sided vinegar are good for maintaining the body’s salt level. So try a tablespoon of vinegar in one cup of water to help yourself.
